Opened on November 1, 1985, this smallish (by AMC standards) six-plex lasted until September 2006. It was located across from Oak Park Mall, where AMC also had a six-plex theater until the late 1990s when the mall was remodeled. It was a wonderful small theater until it got eclipsed by the megaplex boom. Its siblings were the Metro North Plaza and Bannister 6.
Incidentally, AMC originally had plans to expland Oak Park Plaza (or build on vacant land next door) to 20 or 24 screens. They instead were forced (by neighborhood opposition) to move down I-35 to Olathe and build Studio 30. There is now a Target where the bigger theater would have gone.
