Joy Theater

The Joy Theatre opened June 1, 1949 in the heart of Kings Mountain. The opening movie was Betty Grable in “The Beautiful Blond from Bashful Bend”. It is currently home to the Kings Mountain Little Theatre and is now known as the Joy Performance Center. It also hosts an annual film festival. The exterior has a great vintage style vertical sign.

Opened with Betty Grable in “The Beautiful Blond From Bashful Bend” (unknown if extras added).

The Joy Theatre was first planned in 1942 by the brother team of David and Charlie Cash when they purchased the lot on Railroad Avenue then-occupied by the Davis Easy-Pay Store. Blueprints were drawn in Early 1947 and was redrawn in September 1948.
