The Romance Theatre was opened on May 20, 1925. It was closed in 1931 and the orchestra floor was leveled and it became a dance hall named the Romance Winter Garden. Ralph Todd bought the building in 1940 and it was remodeled back into a theatre which was renamed Diana Theatre in honor of his daughter. It reopened on January 6, 1943 with Cary Grant in “Talk of the Town”. He sold it in 1949.
In 1950 it was reopened by Bill Ford who renamed it Bland Theatre. It was still open in 1955, but was soon a victim of TV. The marquee was removed in 1960. It has since been demolished.

Same theater? The Independent Film Journal reported on March 7, 1953 that “Bill Ford, owner-mgr. of the Bland Theatre, Blandinsville, Ill., has been made mgr. of Kerasotes’ 66 Drive-In Theatre at Springfield, Ill.”
I would pay $5 for a framed picture of the Bland marquee. ;)
January 6, 1943 grand opening reboot as the Diana Theatre with “Talk of the Town” in photos.
