Seating capacity for The Movies 1,2,3 was 390. Auditorium 1 seated 150, Auditorium 2 seated 150 and Auditorium 3 seated 90. It opened on October 3, 1975 under Martin Theatres. It became the second triplex cinema in the Chapel Hill area. Located in the NCNB Building in downtown, through the NCNB Plaza, nowadays the Bank of America Building.
Initially a first run theatre, it also showcased independent films. During the mid-1980’s, it was acquired by Carmike Cinemas and was closed on October 18, 2000. The building became a nightclub, but this closed in early-2007.
