The AMC Quorum 8 opened on May 24th, 1985, and renamed Commerce Park 8 on November 1st, 1985. Grand opening ads posted.
Does anyone have any pictures, inside or outside, of the old AMC Commerce Park 8 that they could post on here?
https://www.movietavern.com/richey-road-movie-tavern/ This location has permanently closed. Considering the area, I doubt this location will ever re-open as a movie theatre. There is a nearby Premiere Cinema at Greenspoint mall that competed for business, plus with the recent renovation at the AMC Spring 10, I can’t imagine anyone would re-enter this market (and I was surprised when Movie Tavern did)
Jasonm74, I vaguely remember the shooting. I was still a kid at the time, but I remember that the area was already going downhill in terms of crime and after that shooting, we never visited that theater again. Oddly enough, I can not seem to find anything online about that shooting other than what you posted.
I remember seeing Free Willy, Home Alone 2 and The Santa Clause at this theater.
When this theatre was the AMC Commerce Park 8 in December 1996, it was robbed and a manager and floor worker were shot. The floor worker later died. AMC closed the facility soon after.

Remember this as the Commerce Park 8 in the early 1990’s. While is was not stadium seating, it was a step up from the mall theaters for legroom and overall ambiance. One of my favorites back in the day.
The correct zip code for this address is 77090.
The conversion of the Commerce Park 8 into the Movie Tavern at Richie Road was designed by the Dallas architectural firm Partners in Architecture.
Cool Offical website.
