Eric Twin Cherry Hill

This theater was similar to the descriptions of RKO twins on Long Island, with orange-and-black signage and “red” and “blue” auditoriums. Opened July 15, 1970 as part of a plaza anchored by S. Klein. “Z”, on both screens, was the opening feature.

As RKO wound down its operations in the Philadelphia area, this theater was taken over by Sameric, which toned down the signage and closed it for a while for asbestos removal. It eventually closed for good in the 1990’s and was converted into a Chuck E. Cheese.

In the old Philadelphia Inquier listings, after the Sameric Theatres chain acquired this theatre (as well as the Ardmore Theatre and the Plaza Moorestown Theatre) from RKO Stanley Warner Theatres, it was called “Eric Route 38 Twin Theatre”.

It was never called “Eric Twin Cherry Hill” since General Cinema was calling their theatre either “Cinema Cherry Hill”, “Cinema I & II Cherry Hill” or “General Cinema Cherry Hill Twin”

The old marquee is now just a brown spraypainted blob. Sad.
