“Deep Throat” and the “Devil in Miss Jones” ran for a long time in Minneapolis in the early ‘70s (about the same time as H & M.

The claim is correct. “The Sound Of Music” played at the Moorhead for 53 weeks beginning October 20, 1965.

“Music” was not the only film that drew protests for its long run. “Harold and Maude” ran for 114 weeks at the Westgate cinema in suburban Minneapolis. Neighbourhood group did march in front of the Westgate with signing demanding a change.
For the record “Harold and Maude” was the longest running film in Minnesota history. “Music” logged in second. It ran 95 weeks at the Downtown Mann cinema.
