Angles Arts Centre

A Georgian theatre in use between 1793 and 1897. It was then converted into a school.

It was reopened as a 112 seat theatre in 1976 and has an adjoining 80 seat studio theatre.

Over the years it had lost it’s interior and the single tier tip-up seating is now at the former stage end, and not in a Georgian theatre style.

Film equipment has recently been acquired and when there is no stage show it is intended to screen movies – principally art-house. In 2019 it dropped movies and is now used as a live theatre.

With the opening of the Light and Luxe Cinemas in town, the Angles is almost entirely focussed on Live performances.
