Parkway Value Cinemas 6

One of two theatres currently operated in the Houston County area by St. Simons Island, GA-based Georgia Theatre Company II. The theatre, originally opened in 1984 by Lichfield Theatres. It was taken over by United Artists obn June 1, 1987 and became a five-plex. It was purchased by GTC in 1998 and renovated, splitting one of the existing theatres to create the current six screens. The theatre was first-run until February of 2006, when its format changed to that of a sub-run house. It was closed August 4, 2014.

Nice place for the price although there has been little upkeep and the auditoriums are a bit rundown.

The staff are pretty friendly and the concessions are moderately priced.

A sign of the times. The Georgia Theater Company will not pay to have the theater upgraded to digital projection.

The theater officially closed its doors on August 4, 2014 after the August 3, 2014, 10:00 p.m. showing of The Amazing Spiderman 2. The films on the final marquee were:

This was first operated by Litchfield Theatres when it opened in 1984 before United Artists took over the Parkway either in or around 1986.
