Opened on December 18, 1998, the AMC Winston Churchill 24 has an “outer space” theme in its lobby as well as its auditoriums. The theatre also features stadium seating and SDDS sound. It was taken over by Cineplex Cinemas in 2013 and the screen count has been reduced to 22-screens.

I don’t think it’s “zone” that has anything to do with it. Many theatre chains have multiple theatres in the same booking zones. I think it’s a matter of whether or not competition would be prohibited by Cineplex owning two theatres in the same area. At least — that’s how it would be in the US. I don’t know about Canada.

I think it’s the same here. That’s why Empire Theatres picked up a lot of locations across Canada when Cineplex took over Famous Players.

This theatre should be referred as Cineplex Cinemas that was applied to the former AMCs (excluding Interchange 30)

VIP Cinemas recently opened months ago since Oct 2019. The name “Cineplex Cinemas Winston Churchill and VIP” shall be attached since they have 5 VIP screens with a licensed lounge.

And with a massive 24 screens, it has everything like UltraAVX, DBOX, IMAX, RealD 3D and Recliner seats. Concessions range from Coke Freestyle, Outtakes, Starbucks, Pizza Pizza and alcohol.

Screen count is now at 22 screens as the #1-10 wing was partially renovated for a Cineplex VIP section in early 2020. Similar to Yonge-Dundas in downtown Toronto (which also had a VIP renovation), the latter screens were not renumbered so 6-7 no longer exist, 8-10 in the #1-10 wing are the same as before divided by a separate hallway and screens still overall count up to #24.

A screen was also converted to the 4DX format at this time as well.
