The Lake Elsinore 8 was opened by Krikorian Theatres on November 18, 1994. In 1996, the theatre was sold to Regal Cinemas, along with seven other locations, for $28 million in cash and stock options. Regal ran the venue for another six years, before closing it as part of a financial restructuring. The site was then briefly part of a city funded revitalization project that quickly folded with the bankruptcy of a primary developer.
After sitting vacant for several years, the theatre was picked up by UEC Theatres, remodeled (including the addition of stadium seating), and reopened as Diamond Cinemas 8 in late-2006. The current theatre operates as a first run, in a burgeoning entertainment complex.

This theatre was designed by architect Thomas Berkes. This list of theaters he designed gives the seating capacity of this multiplex as 1,800.
That must be on the 15 freeway side, before you head up the 74 to get to the 5. I’ve done that drive-not recommended if you have a fear of heights or sharp curves that come close to plunging you off the side of a cliff.
This opened on November 18th, 1994. Its grand opening ad can be found in the photo section.
