Nearby Theaters
Pettengill’s Opera House showed films and also hosted operatic and vaudeville productions from the 1910’s and into 1920’s. It then went over to full time movie theatre which was still operating in 1957.

Listed as the Opera House in the 1941, 1943 and 1950 editions of Film Daily Yearbook with a seating capacity of 300.

My mother remembers seeing movies here in the 40’s.
The Theatre Historical Society archive has the MGM Theatre Report for the Opera House; it’s Card # 382. Address is “Main St.” There is an exterior photo taken Jan. 7, 1941. Condition is Poor. The report says it opened in 1907, was showing MGM films, and had 300 seats. The 1940 population was 1,300.
