July 13 2008 an article in the paper said how Thomasville was struggling to make it,but when Gas prices were four dollars gallon that year people were shopping and going to MOVIES closer to Home and not spend up to fifty dollars in gas going to Mobile. In fact a picture of the White painted THOMASVILLE Theatre was used in a color picture. The marquee had Friday,Saturday at 7pm “KUNG-FU PANDA” and TONIGHT “GET SMART”. So it was still open while the city of 5,000 folks was bleeding business to Mobile. It took $4.00 gallon of gas to keep the locals at home, wonder how the THOMASVILLE THEATRE is doing now with Gas well under $3.00 a gallon.

Despite announcing on its Facebook page that it would close this past Spring due to low attendance, the Thomasville Theater is still open in July 2011 and showing first-run films. While I don’t know if it has 3D capabilities because I have not been there, it has been showing “Transformers: Dark of the Moon” and “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides”. The theater gets films and shows them for a couple of days, like a weekend, and then ships them back.
