A handsome theatre structure featuring a massive arched window as its centerpiece, this house originally opened as the Broadway Opera House. It launched with a live show “The Land of Nod” on October 12, 1908. The ‘Opera House’ part of the name had gone by 1911.
In 1915 it converted into a full-time movie theatre by new operator J.W. Graves. When the former New Dime Theatre turned Quality Theatre was sold to Raymond Custer, Custer held summer shows in the Airdome in 1919 and decided to use the old Broadway Opera House as the new home for its Quality Theatre.
Custer opened the ‘new’ Quality Theatre on September 19, 1919 with Zena Keefe in “Oh Boy”. It also appears to have housed Sunday sermons for a local church in the 1920’s. The Quality Theatre seems to have closed at the end of lease on September 26, 1925 with Alleene Ray in “Galloping Hoofs”.
The building exists today, now sporting an art Deco style in use as offices for a law firm
