Located in a strip mall across from George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia the University Mall Theatres was opened September 21, 1977. It screened second-runs of recent Hollywood flicks at bargain ticket prices. Seating capacities ranged range from 168 to 248 seats. By 2023 it was screening first run movies.

Here and here are 2009 photos of the University Mall Theatres.
This opened on September 21st, 1977. Not much of a grand opening ad in photo section.
Haven’t been here in a while but they recently had a Kickstarter campaign that was funded and added new seats.
Cineplex Odeon closed the theatre shortly after acquiring it in 1988. All of the equipment was removed from the projection booth and used elsewhere. The theatre remained closed until the summer of 1991. The film equipment was replaced with digital projection in 2014.
Since reopening after the pandemic, the University Mall theater is now a first run house.
