The Motor Vu Drive-In was opened July 9, 1955. This drive-in was closed at least twice. First closed in 1967 and reopened on July 2, 1971 as the Motor View Drive-In. Later closed again and re-opening in the 1990’s, the drive-in boasted $5/car load prices, and maintained a consistent crowd. It was closed again circa 2000. It was then sold to the township, and the concession stand was transformed into a municipal building.

This opened on July 9th, 1955. Grand opening ad in photo section.
Thank you for these memories. My grandfather, Anthony Sacco, built and operated the Motor Vu drive-in theater, and my mother worked there for many years. I worked there some years while I was growing up, and I spent two full summers working at their other drive in, Laurel, in Hazleton in the 1970s.
Closed in 1967 and reopened on July 2nd, 1971.

Opened(first time) after a soft launch, with a Cinemascope short(not named), a cartoon(not named) , and “The racers”. Actoress Betsy Blair(from the film “Marty) was there in person on grand opening night.reopened on 2/7/1971 with "Mash” and “Patton”.
The final film was a double feature of chicken run and Thomas and the magic railroad
My grandfather was a projectionist there and I was learning to be one. And got to spend quality time with my grandfather. Loved that place.
The entire site is now Lenape Park. It has been landscaped with some structures added to the property.
All evidence that a drive-in existed there is gone. Save for one small section of the original entrance road that extends about 20 feet from the main road into the property before it disappears. Also, the Nescopeck Township sign could have been the original marquee.
