well I thought NORTH AUGUSTA was really unscreened….
Yes….why the county would use that site is beyond me, but I’m not a transit user. Mike, I recalled just the other day how General Cinema completely ignored your experienced advice for the need to build a cinema in the West Augusta market. After all, who were you, a country boy, to second guess the smarter and more business savvy Yankees? Yeah…..how’d that work out for'em?
JUST found out its being torn down in july 2017 for the transit dept… NEWS 12 footage on GENERAL CINEMA MEMORIES.
If you go to GENERAL CINEMA MEMORIES on FACEBOOK there is a nice video of the cinemas before they closed, the REGENCY TRIPLE is also shown there..
GREENWOOD brave, REGENCY TRIPLE is now on Facebook, plenty of ads, pictures and stories..
Was this the theater that showed Free Kids Movies in the Summer ? I vaguely remember our church kids going to see a movie at Regency Mall probably 1990s ( I turned 13 in June 1990) and walking through mall and Ladies Clothes Store and girls telling me not to look at undergarments.
I cannot remember what movie, year, or seeing too many movies at either Regency theater.
Worked at the Triple and then GCC in ATHENS.Early 80’s.about the time you came up the Theatre Biz had mainly changed for the Worse,I started in 1974,before everything went Multi screen.
Ginger welcome to GCC Augusta,we had a great Run.
Hello All. I worked (and Managed) at both Regency Mall theaters from 89 until 95 when I moved to Atlanta. I still keep in contact with the friends I made today.

Russell, Found Laura Marr, she works at ASU.Still looks like she did at Regency.
Nothing is Personal .We are old GCC employees and this what CT is about.I would LOve to see Barry’s book he has on Pictures of Regency I,II and III.I hear on Facebook there is page just for GCC employees, But i am danged if I can find it.I will let Barry know.
I know somebody complained about putting “personal” comments on here, but I can’t help it in this case! If any of you know Mike, THIS is the best way to get in touch with him!! Tell Mr. Morrison that I’m open to a get together whenever y'all want. We’ll work something out. It’d be alot of fun. Maybe it’s a good thing we can’t invite Dray…he’d probably get us kicked out of wherever we’d meet! (Miss that old SOB!)
Me Too.I sent Linda Zacker the GCC ads,She remembered them even Carrie.Noticed the road Marquee sign was gone.We played “CADDYSHACK” at Columbia Square,I am sure it was second run.Played in Columbia Two. Barry asks about a get together when I see him.

Mike, I’ve been terrible about responding to things on here and the things you’ve sent my wife on Facebook! Yes, I did see the GCC trailer a while back, and it brought back some memories. Strange how a little bit of music can pull memories out of the back of your head, huh? Whenever I hear the theme to “Caddyshack”, I’m reminded of picking up popcorn and drink cups and then sweeping up corn and Milk Duds..all while singing and juking to “I’m Allll Right!”!! Funny stuff!
Love it Russ,Did you see all the GCC stuff, trailers on YOUTUBE.
bree, since I used to be the manager at the Exchange, you can just mail me the quarter! I know that’ll make you sleep better at night. LOL!
My summer camp used to take movie trips here when I was younger. I remember once they took the younger kids to see Disney’s Dinosaur and us kids 10 and older got to see Big Momma’s House lol. I also remember my mom’s friend pulling her niece and I out of school early to see the Flintstones here lol.I tried to buy popcorn from here once and I didnt have the quarter I needed to complete the transaction, so the concession lady gave me the popcorn and said that I had to pay the quarter back the next time I came lol. Theater closed before I could go back though.
May 15th, 1987 grand opening ad has been posted here.
Glad to see a picture of Russell’s old theatre on CT.
I drove around town with a huge camel on the top of my car promoting “HAWWPS”.Back in old days. I removed all comments about charles, except the one you wrote,Russ, might want to remove it.Told Charles I did take them off.Zack was always thinking up something,“Whorehouse” promo was pretty HOT. I think Sherri showed more in the Lobby than on the screen, what I saw,and I hate Musicals was pretty tame for an R rated Flick.
