News About This Theater
- Jul 13, 2013 — Fandango, Pacific Theatres in deal
Built on part of the site of the Gilmore Drive-In (which has its own page on Cinema Treasures). The Grove is a wonderfully designed multiplex in a Neo-Deco style. Just like the movie palaces had in the past, there is a lofty large foyer, with a grand sweeping staircase, very plush, very ornate. Upstairs is what could be described as the mezzanine lobby where the auditoriums are located. Here there are large photographs displayed on the walls of former Los Angeles movie theatres. The Pacific Theatres at The Grove was opened March 15, 2002.
The auditoriums are black box style, state of the art, with large screens, surround sound and luxury stadium seating (the original seating capacity was 3,000).
The theatre is next to the Farmers Market, which is a good place for lunch and just a short walk along the road is the Silent Movie Theatre.
The Pacific Theatres at the Grove was closed on March 17, 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic. It was announced on April 13, 2021 that the closure would be permanent in all Pacific/ArcLight theatres. It was taken over by AMC on July 19, 2021 and reopened as AMC The Grove 14 on August 13, 2021. It has now gained an IMAX auditorium.

What your source of the capacity @Theaers are Better. Yours are about 6 seats higher in each screen. My numbers was from Pacific Theatres showclock about 20 years ago. I don’t think the seats were ever replace.
@ridethectrain did a walk-through with theater manager and asked for all capacities. Guessing possible discrepancy could be do to handicap seating?
