Opened on November 5, 1993, Cinemark’s entry into the Chico market brought the first major competition in town for United Artists Theatres. Cinemark found such success in the area that they opened a larger, 14 screen multiplex a few years later.
The Movies 10 was closed in 2000, but Regal Cinemas, which absorbed the failing United Artists chain, has withdrawn from the market completely.
The former Cinemark Movies 10 building now houses a church. Though the interior is substantially altered, the façade is still recognizable as a former theatre.

A photo of the former Movies 10 as it looks now that it’s been converted into a church appears on the main page of the Calvary Chapel Chico website. They even kept the marquee!
