There is no River Street but other variations of River, not in downtown.
There’s a great article about vaudeville and theatre here – View link
“For many years, the Alhambra Theatre, on what is now Washington Boulevard, hosted almost daily vaudeville shows. Some are documented in the program collection of the Stamford Historical Society, which dates to 1909.”
I don’t believe that this theater is still standing.
When the theater was standing, the lower part of Washington Blvd was known as River Street. Using today’s maps, 34 Washington Blvd (old River St) is on the corner of Washington Blvd and Pacific St. In the Harbor Point neighborhood—South End. The theatre moved into what was the original armory building built in 1884. Shame there’s not even a trace of this building or any of the adjacent buildings left.
Opened on October 9th, 1909. Grand opening ad posted.
Closed in April 1928.
