Located in the North Hollywood district of Valley Village. The Sand Box Theatre opened as an adult movie theatre on January 16, 1970. It was closed in 1971. It also operated as the Sahara Theatre screening adult movies.

The adress looks familiar for some reason. Did Pussycat Theaters once operate here in the 1970s??
The Pussycat Theatre in North Hollywood was the former Guild Theatre at 5161 Lankershim Blvd. after Mann Theatres dropped it. The Sand Box Theatre is one of those small former retail stores turned into a adult house during that time. It was not a true theatre.

This opened as the Sand Box theatre on January 16th, 1970 and closed (or stopped placing ads in the LA Times) in 1971.
