I remember watching “the Empire strikes back” at this theater and watching the original trailer for “the Shining” which scared me to death at the time. I was around 8 years old and I beleive that is why this theater stands out in my head.
We used to have a cottage in the area and I also went to see the original “Superman” there as well. Good times….
I have two postcards showing Goderich Street (one card identifies it as Main Street) from Gustavas Street. Both show a movie theater on Goderich at Gustavas, across from the Queen’s Hotel (now Queen’s Bar and Grill). I don’t see a name on the building, but the side of the canopy/marquee states: ALL TALKING. I don’t think this is the same building that is seen on the Google street view.
This opened on September 3rd, 1971, and its official opening on September 22nd. Grand opening ads posted.
The theatres closed on February 20th, 2022 with a free showing of the original JUMANJI.
