Rivest266 The Showcase Walsall was Called Showcase Birmingham which P… Off the people of Walsall. Our Mayor gave them a talking too on the opening. Walsall Opened first Birmingham Later I lived near Walsall Showcase and My Birmingham Cinema The Capitol was near the Birmingham one. This wrecked a very good Independent (Capitol) that made the largest profit in Birmingham. So it was Kama when the Showcase closed down.
Huge grand opening ads posted. The Showcase Walsall opened a week later. National Amusements had huge ad campaigns when they open a new cinema.
Yes and Business was also effected by the Vue cinema Gravely Hill and the new one a Solihull after the opened.
I worked for showcase cinemas as chief projectionist up until 2 years ago when digital ruined our careers they closed that cinema as jaguar made them a offer they could not refuse
The Birmingham Mail’s headline says it all really
“Jaguar Land Rover take over Showcase cinema site in Castle Bromwich”
Must be the first time in the UK a factory has taken over a cinema site – normally it’s the other way around… Maybe there’s hope for Industry after all.
