When AMC opened the Marina 8 in 1981, they decimated the local competition by offering the first true multiplex experience in North Miami. In 1993 the Marina was re-invented as the Fashion Island 16. In 2002 it was closed after struggling against AMC’s own Aventura 24 nearby.

I went there as a patron in the late 80’s. Ended up working there from late 94 to early 97. Still remember driving by when they were tearing it down. Many, many great memories.
