When i moved to Maine in 1977 i went to this Drive in just about every week end. After it closed in 1986 they took the two screen down and the drive in just sat there until 2003.Now there is a car wash and a hot dog fast food restaurant.
Cool 1986 photo.
The address is:
Sawyer Rd. & Juneberry Ln. Scarborough, ME 04074
Opening date was July 2, 1949 and — in addition to two features “Thief of Baghdad” and “Fall In,” there was a fireworks show as well.
My father had a American/Amoco gas station on Rt 1 next to the Twin Drive In. As a kid we could watch the movie from the gas station but had no sound. haha. I would love to see pics of the old gas station or hear from anyone that knew Clarence (Mac) McAtee . Thanks,Doug
