As a single screen house, the Earl Theater was operated by H.P. Howell and his Howell Circuit in the early-1960’s. The theater was later twinned and renamed the Earl Cinema. By 2014 it had been renamed Ahoskie Cinema 4, but closed in July 2015.

I did the retro work in this theatre back in the 90’s. The original was split to a twin and then later the balcony was split from the down stairs theatres creating 2 new auditoriums upstairs.
This is now the Ahoskie Cinema 4.
This was owned and operated at one time under Martin Theatres(when it was labeled the Earl Twin) and later on under Carmike Cinemas(when the name changed to the Carmike Cinema 4)before it was dropped in the 1990’s.
This theatre is now independently owned and operated.
Phone not working and no movie times listed anywhere. Also, the June 2014 Google Street View shows the theatre for sale. Probably closed.
I have no record of this theatre ever being a Carmike location. In fact, the local Chamber states that it was independently owned for many years after it was under the Howell umbrella.
Status should be closed.
