Was the drive-in triangle shaped?
Found It!
The drive-in was located at 2694 Inwood Ave, Rockwell City, IA. It sat on the NE corner at the intersection of Inwood Avenue and 270th Street about three miles west of Rockwell City.
It may have called itself the “Triangle Drive-In” because it advertised the location as being “West of Rockwell City, East of Sac City, and North of Lake City”.
Today, a business sits on the property with no trace of the drive-in remaining.

Nice find! If you drop down to Google Street view on 270th street, there is a strangely shaped sign, triangle, that may have been the marquee. It is VERY old and there really would be no other reason for it. You can’t miss it, it’s right behind the Iowa State Trooper that is clocking speeders!
That sign has to be from the drive-in, there’s no other reason why it would be there.
Some issues of Boxoffice from 1971 call Dwight Hanson’s drive-in at Rockwell City the Golden Buckle Drive-In. Rockwell City has long touted itself with the appellation “The Golden Buckle on the Corn Belt.” The town still has a few businesses using the name, though the drive-in is long gone. I’ve been unable to discover just how long this aka was used, but it was definitely in use in 1971.
