Listed as operating in the 1960’s, it has been described as a huge cinema, and one of the finest cinemas in the Middle East.
Closed in the late-1990’s due to hostilities, the Al Khayam Cinema was re-opened in 2008. It now screens 3 or 4 different movies, twice a day. The films are mainly American, from the 1980’s.

This theatre as well as the King Gazi, were developed and operated by brothers Naim and Saleh Aizer. They were social and artistic centers in Baghdad prior to the escalation of hostilities. The Samiramis was under development when the Aizer brothers left the country.
