The Barksdale Drive-In Theater was located near Barksdale Air Force Base.
This drive-in was located at 3000 Old Minden Road, Bossier City, LA 71112.
From the March 3, 1956 issue of BoxOffice: “Purchase of the Barksdale Drive-In, on Old Highway 80 north of Barksdale Air Force Base, by McElroy Theatres, Inc., was announced Monday (2) by Tom McElroy, head of the company. The drive-in was purchased from Mrs. Lillian Lutzer, Dallas, for an undisclosed amount and becomes the McElroy circuit’s ninth theatre.”
I hope when the movies screened at this drive-in, the air force planes didn’t take off or land at the nearby air force base while the movies were playing!?
I believed that the Barksdale opened on November 23, 1950 with “Barricade”. I haven’t looked in the extra subjects yet though.
