The 800-seat Galax Theater opened on December 11, 1920 with Claire Windsor in “To Please One Woman”. It was destroyed by fire on February 16, 1945.
It was rebuilt and reopened with 450-seats on November 16, 1945 with Edmund Lowe in “Dillinger”. It was closed on July 7, 1951 with Roy Rogers in “Trail of Robin Hood” & John Wayne in “The Fighting Kentuckian”.
