The Strand Theater was opened in 1941 in the community of Cockrell Hill near Duncanville Road. It was one of several theaters owned by Gene Autry and in 1946 it reopened as the Hill Theater in typical Hollywood fashion with spot lights, an appearance by Gene and a crowd of 2,000 people in attendance.
A group of seven policemen and eight firemen were on hand for crowd control on the theater’s opening night.

If my memory serves me correctly, this Theatre & the shopping strip it was in, burned down. All was lost.. This was a few years ago… Nothing of the Theatre or shopping remains. As seen in the street view above. To see where the Theatre once sat, you’ll need to rotate about 180 degrees… RAC Photography

I believe before it burned, it was an auto-repair shop for a number of years.
