The Rex Theater was opened on April 4, 1941 with Gene Autry in “Melody Ranch”. It was operated by the Interstate Theatres Inc. circuit & Claude Musselman on a 50/50 deal as was most all theaters of the time in Paris.
The Rex Theater lasted 7 years, and was closed down July 31, 1948 (although it is still listed as open in the 1950 edition of Film Daily Yearbook).
It was located in the old J. M. Daniels building.

Here is a January 1955 item from the Paris News:
Couch Shoe Store Opening Scheduled
Couch Shoe Store, Inc. will have a formal opening around January 15, A. D. Couch, owner, announced Monday. The store is located on the southwest corner of the Plaza in the building which formerly housed the Rex Theater. The new store will be a family shoe store and will be an outlet of the International Shoe Corporation.
