Actually, you’re wrong. The Ship Drive-In continued sailing through into the 1980s until the Ship Drive-In ceased operations on August 4, 1985 with Chevy Chase in “Fletch”.

After the Ship Drive-In’s closure, the Plaza Theatre became the only first-run movie house in Durant and all of Bryan County until closing for the final time in January 1991.

The Ship Drive-In set sail on March 6, 1952 with Jane Frazee in “Rhythm Inn.” It appears to have ceased operation on December 14, 1963 with a double feature of “It Happened at the World’s Fair” and “The Young and The Brave” supported by a cartoon.

The address of 2708 N 1st Ave, Durant, OK is an accurate one (at least for Google). However, a housing edition has been built on the property so there is no trace of the drive-in remaining. http://tinyurl.com/jmk8h3a
