The SouthGlen had the Aquarium.

The Dickinson WestGlen 12 opened on June 30th, 1995. It was KC’s first all-digital sound with THX sound. Grand opening ad posted.

Just for the record: theater has been upgraded by B&B, recliner seats, etc.: http://www.kansascity.com/news/business/biz-columns-blogs/cityscape/article115106718.html

Does anyone know if this theater ever had a small aquarium inside near the concession counter? I remember seeing one in a Kansas City area theater but don’t know if it was in the Westglen or another one.

This theater was acquired by B&B theaters in November, 2014 as part of their purchase of the Dickinson theater chain.

The name is now listed as Shawnee 18. Information can be found at their official website bbtheaters.com

The Westglen 18 originally opened as the Westglen 12 in the mid 90’s. In 1998 it was converted to it’s current configuration of 18 screens. Westlgen was converted to digital presentation in early 2012 and now features 18 digital screens with five 3D capable auditoriums.

I believe the SouthGlen is now a 24 Hour Fitness. The East/West/North have survived though.

This was one of four theatres in the Kansas City area to be constructed with the ‘glen’ name. Named after the company’s founder Glen Wood Dickinson. They replaced the flagship Glenwood Theatre in Overland Park.
