The Twin Vue Drive-In was a joint project of John Foster and Jack Laird which they opened in 1953 only one week after the Twin Terrace opened on the other end of Odessa. The Twin Vue Drive-In had two giant screens and parking spaces for 1,100 cars and a covered viewing area which could seat 1,186 walk-in patrons. Laird and Foster, twenty year associates, had two prosperous years with the Twin-Vue Drive-In before television took its toll and then decided to close it along with the Texas Theatre and Plaza Theatre.
Surprisingly the drive-in later opened as the Holiday Drive-In and lasted another two decades.

Drive-In 54, yes it became the Video Park Drive-In on June 11th, 1977. Its grand opening ad can be found in the photo section as well as the Twin-Vue opening ad from January 7th, 1953 and the April 5th, 1956 ad for the opening of the Holiday Drive-IN.

From the Feb. 22, 1960 BoxOffice: “A terrific wind and sandstorm Tuesday (9) damaged several Video circuit drive-ins. … the Holiday at Odessa suffered lesser damages”.
