The Regal Countryside pays tribute to an era when theatres were the anchors of shopping centers by incorporating a streamline design in this centerpiece of the Regal Plaza. The Countryside features large screens, state of the art audio, and stadium seating. It had been demolished by 2021.

this complex might be sighing a sense of relief that the promised RPX screen over at the upcoming Dulles Town Center 10-plex is a dead deal… good for them, sucky for the Mall theater.
I hear once Regal opens up the Mall theater, this will close. If it does, one of my suggestions was Landmark renovating the theater, de-twinning some of the screens, so less screens more quality. I’ve always wanted a Landmark in NoVA.
Giles, is there any possibility there will still be an RPX screen at the dulles town center? I was really looking forward to it, and not having to drive far away for good screens.
nope the RPX screen is off the cards – from Regal’s website (and a Facebook message from a mall representative)
Dulles opens on Dec. 11th but with some pre-opening events:
Be the First to See This State of the Art Theatre! Preview Events December 8 – December 10 $3 Movies, $3 Popcorn & $3 Soft Drinks All money raised goes to local charities!
Monday, December 8 “Help the Elves at Regal” Benefiting Toys for Tots

Wednesday, December 10 “Celebrate Home & Holidays at Regal” Benefiting Habitat for Humanity for Loudoun County

Giles, thanks, just got back from the 3$ opening, that’s too bad about the RPX. Do you know why it was cancelled? Anyway, the theatre is as advertised besides that. Screens could be bigger though. Was sitting in the middle and it seemed to fit pretty easily in the center of line-of-sight.
They did end up building that new theater at the mall. It has been two years now i think.
I have just watched a Youtube video that shows the demolition of this cinema.. The description says it’s to be replaced with housing.
