A conversion of the Buick Garage to the plans of Boston based architect E.W. Matthews. The Crown Theater opened December 23, 1912. The Crown Theatre was still open in 1959.

I remember being taken to the Crown in a cub scout troup outing in 1959. They showed us a horror movie that freaked us out!

Born in Hartford in 1952. Lived around the corner from this theater. Went there many times, as well as the other theaters in Hartford. Worked at E. M. Loews and Strand theaters in Hartford. Worked at Mann theaters here in Los Angeles for many years until some of their movie houses suffered the same fate as the great theaters in Connecticut-so thanks for posting this picture-brings back memories! (I wish you had MORE photos!)
