The Somerset Theatre opened its doors on December 31, 1937 with Warner Baxter in “Vogues Of 1938” along with a few unnamed shorts. It was once operated by Odeon Theatres Canada and finally Cineplex Odeon. It was closed on October 20, 2000 with “Gladiator”.

I remember driving up from Toronto at oh-dark-hundred for a test screening of The Empire Strikes Back in 1980. At the time it was still being run by Canadian Odeon Theatres.

What a shame it lasted all that time and then gets torn down for a grocery store !!!!!
