Grand opening ad posted. Another drive-in that claimed “World’s largest and brightest picture”
I’ve put together a booking history for the Lake Shore Drive-in, from 1951 up to 1978 so far, in case anyone might like to know when a particular movie played there. I’ll be happy to share my research with you. Take care – Ken Mitchell ()

May `63 fire newspaper image added credit Denver Public Library North Denver Collection.
The 1963 event may have been the burning down of the Lake Shore’s screen ! It was on fire Mother’s Day, 5/12/63. The drive-in was closed for about a month and a half and reopened with a new screen on 6/29/63. The Lake Shore’s very first night was 7/6/51 and the last night was 10/8/85. I am currently putting together a series of books on the Denver area’s drive-ins and indoor theatres. If anyone has a question, I’ll be happy to share my research with you. Thanks ! – Ken Mitchell
Something happened to it in 1963 according to the picture that I uploaded. It came from the USGS Earth Explorer.
Looks it has been completely paved over for retail.
I haven’t seen a closing date. Drive-ins.com implies that it closed before 1999. Here is an old ad:

when did lake shore drivein close
The Lake shore drive-in was the place for all of the b-movies and glorious fun filled nights. They would run all of the Edger Allen Poe movies for Halloween, such as The Premature Burial, Tales of Terror, Pit and the Pendulum, The Haunted Castle,House of Usher all on one program. They would call it the Dusk to Dawn show. What fun. It was also down the street from the famous Lakeside Amusement Park.
