The Island Theatre was a small neighbourhood theatre in Aberdeen on the southern side of the Hong Kong Island. It opened at an unknown date before WWII. As of 17th October 1943, the theatre was still in business. During the war years, only films censored by the Japanese Armies could be shown at the theatre. It re-opened at an unknwn date after the war, and showed selected films until its closure in the mid-1980s.
Its 498-seat auditorium with circle was on the ground floor of the theatre building. The theatre had overhanging electricing fans, and air conditioning was installed at an unknown date. There was a small screen on the right side of the proscenium.
A residential building was built on the site of the theatre.
