The address for this Drive-in is now 1665 Hughes Way, Long Beach, CA 90810.
It is now Intex. The main building, the lot next to it and part of Hughes Way made up the Drive-in Theater. The entrance originally was Warnock not Wardlow and was further east where the business park now stands (the entrance was located in the back of the property away from the freeway entrance).
Please update.
According to the Chips wiki episode guide for (season 1,episode 8-green thumb burglar.),the drive in theatre was also used in(season 3,episode 11-return of the supercycle.),but that episode guide says that was Sepulveda drive in theatre. In (season 1,episode 8.),you briefly see just before the police chase enters the drive in theatre lot,you briefly see the sign for the Long Beach(drive in?).
davidcoppock…Thanks for clearing that up. I saw the episode a while back and wondering myself.
the drive in was seen in the television series Chips (Season 1,episode 8 – Green thumb burglar.) the green thumb burglars were chased by Ponch and Baker into the drive in near the end of the episode and arrested after chasing through the fence and into the playground near the screen.
oh it was on Wardlow Rd & Santa Fe Ave,
if wanted we spent every night at the Long Beach Drive-In. my best friend’s mother was the snack bar manager back in 65&66. we’d get to go up on the deck of snack bar roof to watch the movies. we were 15 & 16 them years and i have to say they were some of my happiest days, or evenings. they made my best memories of my teen days.
