The Hayloft Screening Room operated throughout the 1970’s inside former retail space that had been redecorated to resemble a classic red/white, board & batten horse stable. A tiny lobby was lined in aromatic cedar and was about the size of a typical walk-in closet. The boxoffice was behind a one way mirror, ticket buyers saw only a hand taking money and giving out change.

While viewing gay 16mm adult films patrons reclined on bales of hay. Faux horse stalls lined sidewalls. Surprisingly, with all that flamable hay, smoking was permitted inside the auditorium.

It was near a gay night club called Sun Dance Kids at 4025 Maple Avenue, which in 2009 is known as Buddies.
