The Dome Electric Theatre opened in around 1909. It was a conversion of a former covered fruit, vegetable & fish market.
The cinema was redecorated in August 1910. It was re-named Olympia Cinema by February 1916, but was closed later that year, due to wartime conditions.
The building was converted into furniture showrooms for E. Reeves from 1927 until 1973. It was demolished in 1973 and the site is now an open grassed over space.
