I had been wondering how long it would remain sitting empty. This theater never did the business that GCC had hoped for. The competition seemed to have more aggressive bookers and got most of the top grossing product. It’s location at the rear of a strip mall shopping center did not help. AMC acquired this property with the bankruptcy of GCC and promptly closed it at the end of a 20 year lease.
This was demolished this week.
As of June, there is a sign in front of the theater regarding “Change of Land Use” A 274 unit eight story apartment building is proposed. Sign says: “Existing Theater Building To Be Demolished” I was the opening projectionist for GCC when the “New” Renton Village opened in 1989. I had previously worked at the “Old” GCC Renton Village tri-plex that was on the same site.
It appears that they are only showing movies on 4 screens at the same time.

Yes I walked by in October of 2015 and it was fully open and showing Bollywood type/films from India.
Looks to be occupied and showing Indian films.
Anyone know who the property owners are and how to contact them. Also does anyone know the current state of the cinema. Is it closed, or had someone already occupied it?
