The Corral drive-in opened on April 12th, 1963, with “it happened at the world fair”. Grand opening ad posted.

Google Street Views from the time the RV park had been built until the most recent one have never shows movies advertised on the Corral Drive-In marquee.

It does seem strange that they have never covered the sign in order not to mislead those from outside of Guymon, but it’s clear that they haven’t shown movies there for quite some time.

Responding to a Google Maps reviewer a year ago, the Corral’s owner wrote, “Unfortunately we had to close down the theater a few years ago, just didn’t want you to make the theater your destination and be disappointed.”

The screen is still there, but this theater should be marked closed.

Opened in January 1963.

The RV Park’s web site no longer mentions anything about showing movies. Otherwise very positive reviews on TripAdvisor suggest that the drive-in was still active in 2018, but by October 2019 “movies no longer shown.”

825 SW Highway 54 is the actual address. The owners made the decision to close the theater when their digital projector was going to have to be replaced. The associated RV park remains open.

The Corral probably opened in 1963, based on this April 3, 1963 note in Motion Picture Exhibitor: Wright Hale, who operates the Lyric, indoor house, and the Holiday Drive-In, Spearman, Tex., and Everett Mahanley, who is constructing the Corral Drive-In, Guymon, have purchased the Wagonwheel Drive-In, Spearman, from J. D. Wilbanks and will dismantle the drive-in.

How awesome to see that an Oklahoma drive-in has reopened! Since we have recently lost the Weatherford and Ponca City theaters, it is great to see the Corral re-enter the game. I cannot wait to take the trip to Guymon for a night at the movies.
