Opened on 8/9/1955 with “The McConnell story”, and “The good due young”.
The former Sky View is being redeveloped as we speak, starting about summertime 2017. Housing will occupy its spot and I think it should be known as Sky View Park.
Thank you, Drive-In 54. I had trouble returning to that site as well and your link worked! To my knowledge, the Sky-View is still undeveloped as off July 18, 2014 when I left Oxnard.

The last of five in Ventura County to remain undeveloped, it sits vacant in limbo. The header states that it had one screen, however, a second screen was added near the rear exit…I forgot the date…sometime in the mid Seventies. Check out this site: http://www.roadsidepeek.com/roadusa/southwest/california/centcal/centcaldi/index4.htm Wish this would hyperlink.

This was a drive-in that had a lot of gang problems in the mid- to late-‘80s; it closed sometime around 1988 or so. The city has always had some kind of low-income housing planned for the spot but it’s never happened. You can still drive by and see where the rise and fall of the land for the cars is, some struts and supports of the old ozoner, and there are holes in the fence for the more intrepid photographers amongst us.
