I saw “Patty Hearst,” starring Natasha Richardson, and “Running on Empty,” starring River Phoenix, in September 1988 at the Mann 6 just after I moved to LA. The theatre outlived both of the stars. RIP.

I agree with that. I suppose the marquee for Arclight a while ago was supposed to direct us down the street to the other venue. The current marquee for this theater doesn’t mention Arclight.

Incorrect. Pacific is converting the Beach Cities 16 on Nash and Rosecrans to an Arclight. This will remain a 6 plex. I do expect it to play more mainstream films when the Arclight opens (with the art product going to there).

The marquee on Sepulveda Blvd says Arclight Beach Cities Cinema.

I noticed the film lineup on the marquee when I was driving by today-Crazy Heart, An Education, A Prophet and a few others. Not exactly mainstream. I wonder if they are trying to position themselves as an art house.

I saw Rainman here in 1988.

This theatre was built by Mann Theatres and opened in 1981. I saw Raiders of the Lost Ark there for the first time shortly after it opened.
