Last survivor among several UA "Movies at" multiplexes in Broward County, the Lauderhill opened October 18, 1985 with nine screens. High traffic from the ever-increasing local population prompted an expansion to 13 screens in July 1993. Despite the arrival of competition from the nearby Fox Sunrise/Sunrise Eleven, Movies at Lauderhill still drew crowds, especially on weekends. Demolished in 2007, then replaced by a shopping center.

The UA Movies at Lauderhill opened in 1985.
October 18th, 1985 grand opening ad in the photo section.
13 screens on July 10th, 1993. No ad found.
Rivest266, I can’t find an ad either, but if you have sources other than the Sun-Sentinel, they seems to have added four more screens on January 18, 1991 if you count the prime time showtimes.
I saw “Back to the Future” at the Movies at Lauderhill in summer, 1985, so a “grand opening” does not necessarily mean “first day opening.”
The reason I know it was summer is because a close friend of mine moved out of the area that summer, before our first year of high school year began that late August/early September.
“BACK TO THE FUTURE” played the AMC Lakes Mall. This theatre had not opened yet nor would AMC agree to date the same film at a theatre so close.
