K-B Theatres opened this twin for the Holiday Springs (primarily retirement) community on December 23, 1977, complementing its Margate Twin Cinema across town. First-run bookings soon gave way to independent owners and steady traffic for second-run features. Dormant for years, it reopened as the non-profit Broward Stage Door Theatre, maintaining two stages.

Although the address says "Sample Road," the Broward Stage Door is tucked away behind a shopping center directly facing the highway.

The Holiday Springs was a triplex by 1985.
