Among the last theaters built by Wometco Enterprises, the 8 at Weston brought the movies to the new far-western reaches of Broward County on October 7, 1988. It had a total seating capacity of 1,550-seats. Later independent owners have continued to serve the local (primarily family) audience.

In 2015 it was taken over by AMC.

AMC recently acquired this theater.

AMC has recently completed a major renovation of this theater in which they installed recliners, expanded the concession stand, and added a MacGuffins bar.

Operated by Silver Cinemas beginning in September 1997, the circuit closed the venue on May 2, 2000 along with 16 other locations.
